Manetto Hill Jewish Center is the area’s most affordable synagogue. And, MHJC has no building fund. Why? Because we believe that young families have enough fiscal obstacles and we are committed to never allowing financial concerns to be a barrier to quality Jewish education and synagogue membership.
Our Hebrew School services children from 5 years of age through 14. In addition to providing structured classes for grades aleph through hay, we also offer pre-primary and primary programs.
Each grade leads our congregation in service, including Friday night, Shabbat morning, Havdalah, and weekday evening services. Our dedicated staff, many of whom have been with us since our inception, provides our children with a deep appreciation of their Jewish identity and an understanding of our rich heritage through the study of language, Bible, culture, Torah, Israel, history, traditions, and holiday study. The gimmel, galed and hay students (5, 6 & 7th grade), have required subjects and can choose 2 elective subjects ranging from computers, ethics and Talmud.
We encourage our graduates to continue their Hebrew education by offering them partial scholarships to SHMA. SHMA is a regional Hebrew high school, where our students join with those from other synagogues to further their religious study.
Our staff are all certified teachers with over 20 years of Jewish education teaching experience. They teach with a love for Torah. Our curriculum has a progressive style.
We have Junior Congregation and provide special events that include spiritual and secular community activities. MHJC is currently working with with a sister school in Israel, using the internet to communicate. And we are involved with a grant on the environment.
MHJC offers a variety of membership discounts. Families must be members to enroll children in Hebrew School. In addition to annual dues, the cost of Hebrew School per child is $925 plus a $175 book fee. We look forward to welcoming you and your children to our family.
