Small enough to know you. Large enough to serve you.

Sue and I have been members of MHJC since 1975. I know that because that is the year our daughter Beth was born. At that time, we decided to join and make our participation “official.” Sue was already a Sisterhood member: she was elected secretary when she went to her first meeting; it seems someone knew she had good handwriting. I was, similarly, Men’s Club secretary, not because of my handwriting, but because I did not escape my first meeting quickly enough. But that is the way it was back then: everyone pitching in. We eventually became presidents of the organizations; were blessed to have our son, Matthew, and our daugter, Beth, bar and bat mitzvahed right here at what became for many years our second home. The years have flown by and we have tried our best to answer the call when the synagogue needs us. Although, admittedly, not as active as we were, we are so happy to see a new group of members who roll up their sleeves and work hard to make our shul a success “b’h.” We want to thank those who give so much to accomplish this and to thank our new rabbi, who also brings renewed spirit in a quest for intellectual and spiritual enlightenment. Once again, more than 40 years since we first became part of MHJC, our synagogue proudly reflects the youth and vigor of a still growing community. Sue and I are so proud to continue to share in the journey.
