The DEAR Torah Project: Dedication and Restoration – September 6, 2026
On September 6, 2026, Manetto Hill Jewish Center rededicated a Torah to the victims of the terrorist attack in Israel on October 7. This Torah Rededication Project, known as DEAR (Dedicating the scroll, Educating on challenges facing Israel, Advocating for safety, and Repairing our Torah) will serve as a permanent memorial in the Plainview, NY community to fight antisemitism.
The event was attended by our congregation, local dignitaries, guests, and members of our community. Everyone in attendance had the unique opportunity to watch the Sofer inscribe specific sections and meticulously rededicate the Torah through his sacred work.
