The DEAR Torah Project

The DEAR Torah Project: A Sacred Memorial & Dedication

Manetto Hill Jewish Center has proudly launched our DEAR initiative—a meaningful Torah dedication project on Long Island. We are rededicating a sacred Torah scroll in solemn memory of the victims of the October 7th massacre and its aftermath

This initiative focuses on four key pillars: Dedicating the scroll, Educating on challenges facing Israel, Advocating for safety, and Repairing our Torah. It serves as a permanent memorial in the Plainview, NY community to fight antisemitism.

Dedicating. Educating. Advocating. Repairing – DEAR

DEAR reminds us of our responsibility to never forget the victims of October 7th

DEAR reminds us to act on their behalf and to never forget their stories.

DEAR reminds us to root out anti-Semitism, to teach, and to forge bonds of friendship within our community.

DEAR acknowledges that the dedication of a Torah is a profoundly happy occasion. We look forward to dancing and singing with our newly dedicated Torah on Simchat Torah.

This community-wide effort culminates in a joyous celebration on Simchat Torah. You can support this project through:

  • Donations & Commemorations: Contribute to the restoration in honor of a loved one or October 7th victim.
  • Dedicate a Torah Letter/Verse: Purchase specific sections of the scroll for restoration by a Sofer.
