1. History, Identity & Values
How long has Manetto Hill Jewish Center (MHJC) been in existence?
We have been a vibrant cornerstone of the Long Island Jewish community since 1969.
Is MHJC an egalitarian synagogue?
Yes. MHJC proudly stands as the very first egalitarian Conservative synagogue on Long Island. Men and women share all religious responsibilities equally, including leading services, reading Torah, receiving honors, and assuming critical lay leadership positions within our congregation.
Is MHJC an LGBTQIA+ friendly congregation?
Yes. The LGBTQIA+ community is a fully welcome, respected, and involved part of the MHJC family. We warmly embrace individuals of all gender identities and sexual orientations, striving to maintain a completely safe, inclusive, and egalitarian spiritual space.
Are interfaith couples and families welcome?
Yes. We have many interfaith families who are deeply integrated into our synagogue life. Non-Jewish spouses and partners participate actively in family milestones and community events. For a deeper look at our supportive ritual practices, visit our Interfaith Jewish Families policy page.

How long is my annual synagogue membership valid?
Our standard annual membership cycle runs for exactly one full year, starting on July 1 and ending on June 30.

What does my annual Sustaining Pledge include?
Your pledge grants you full access to our community life, pastoral care, lifecycle event officiating, and educational programs. For a comprehensive breakdown of what your commitment supports, read about the Benefits of Synagogue Membership.
Are High Holiday tickets included with membership?
